INTRODUCTION OF STATE ARMED POLICE (CAR / DAR)

The State Armed Police Forces of India are the police units established for dealing with serious law and order situations requiring a higher level of armed expertise than normal. The State Armed Police Forces exist in addition to the ordinary police services of the various states. The various States have different titles for their armed police units. In addition to the general term “Armed Police”, other titles in different states include Special Armed Police, Armed Constabulary, Provincial Armed Constabulary and State Military Police. Although the titles are different, their organization, weapons, equipment and tasks are broadly the same. The State Armed Police act as a mobile armed reserve activated only on the orders from the Additional Commissioner of Police or above. They are not usually in contact with the public except during public events, civil unrest, and natural disasters. They maintain key guard posts and participate in antiterrorist operations. Depending on the type of assignment, they may be or may not be carrying firearms. In Karnataka, the state armed police of wing of Karnataka Police trace their origins to the erstwhile Mysore State Imperial Service leaded by CAPFs officers on deputation. The armed police of Karnataka are led by CAPFs officer on deputation:
District Armed Reserve for each district
City Armed Reserve in the four Commissionerate’s in the State namely Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore and Hubli-Dharwad
The Karnataka State Reserve Police is headed by an officer of the rank of additional director general of police, who is assisted by an inspector general and two deputy inspectors general of police at the police headquarters. The Karnataka State Reserve Police consists of 10 battalions. Four Battalions have their headquarters at Bangalore and one each at Mysore, Belgaum, Gulbarga, Mangalore, Shimoga and Shiggavi. The Karnataka State Police Department is the state’s law enforcement agency. The department is headed by the Director General and the Inspector General of Police. Examination will be conducted for the recruitment of Armed Reserve Police Sub-Inspector (CAR / DAR) to every police district and commissioner city of Karnataka. RSI (CAR / DAR) posts are selected through direct recruitment. Similarly, Karnataka State Police Department conducts recruitment for the appointment of Armed Reserve Police Sub-Inspector (CAR / DAR). The appointment is transparent and your scores are the criteria of choice. The only department that has the fastest selection process is the police department. As the police department falls under the law and order, recruitment of Armed Reserve Police Sub-Inspector (CAR / DAR) posts is frequent. The Karnataka State Police Department invites online applications for recruitment of Armed Reserve Police Sub-Inspector (CAR / DAR) posts from time to time by qualified and interested male candidates only. There is no women’s reservation for these posts.

POLICE SUB INSPECTOR (CAR / DAR) RECRUITMENT STAGES

There are two stages in the recruitment of these posts
1. Physical examination (Physical Standard and endurance Test)
2. Written examination
It is compulsory to pass all these stages to be selected as a Armed Reserve Police Sub-Inspector (CAR / DAR). Candidates are eligible for the written test only if they pass the Physical examination

   ENDURANCE TEST:

 
  1. Candidates must pass all the following endurance tests to be eligible for the Physical Standard test, and it is mandatory to participate in all of the following endurance tests. Those who reject / fail to take these exams will be disqualified. After completing each endurance test, the candidate must sign and fill out the prescribed form. If missed, such candidate will be disqualified and will not be awarded any marks for endurance test. These are limited to merit alone.
  2. Candidates will be eligible for the next endurance test only if the 1600 meters run is completed within 6 minutes 30 seconds and servicemen and ex-servicemen can complete the 400 meters run within 2 minutes. Otherwise, such candidates will be disqualified at that stage.
  • In the endurance test, there are only three chances for high jump or long jump and shotput. Only the best of the three chances will be taken into account.

   PHYSICAL STANDARD TEST

For all general, In-service and Ex-servicemen candidates

CHEST (For Men only) 86 cm (When fully expanded) The minimum expansion will be 5 cm

   WRITTEN EXAMINATION

The written examination of the Armed Reserve Police Sub-Inspector (CAR / DAR)  consists of two graduate level papers.
   Paper 1:
There will be essay writing, Precise writing, translation questions. Do not exceed 600 words limit in essay writing. You will also be given a precis question along with the paper. Candidates will have to answer in the answer paper provided and no excessive papers will be given. The duration of this exam is one hour and thirty minutes, with 50 marks.  20 marks for the essay, 10 marks for precis writing and 20 marks for English to Kannada and English to Kannada translations. There are no minimum marks for this paper.

   Paper 2:

The questionnaire is in the Kannada and English medium and is an objective model for 150 Marks, with a written test of multiple choices answers. These are given One hour and thirty minutes to answer. Candidate’s mental capacity is measured in this question paper. The question paper contains questions on current affairs, general knowledge and general study of Indian independence, Indian constitution, history, geography, science, art, literature, mental ability and policy education. For each wrong answer, 25% (0.375) of the correct answer of a similar question is subtracted. Candidates must attend both papers compulsory.

   2. Education qualifications

  • The deadline for applying for this post must complete degree or equivalent degree at a recognized university recognized by UGC is as on 03/05/2021. (Ex-Servicemen Candidates if they have Qualification Certificate dated: 03/05/2021 such candidates will be considered.)
   Qualifications and Experience for In-service Candidates:
  • Should have completed a minimum of 5 years of service in the Police Department (as of the last date of application, i.e., 03/05/2021) as an Assistant Police Sub-Inspector / Head Constable / Police Constable with a Degree or Equivalent Degree at a recognized University.

TRAINING, PERMANENT PERIOD AND SALARY RANGE

   1. Training

Appointed Candidates must undergo twelve months of training in Karnataka Police Academy, Mysore or Police Training Center, Kalburgi or any other Training Center as determined by the Police Department and pass the prescribed exams at the end of the training.

   2. Probationary period

Two years and six months including basic training and practical training.

   3. Salary Range

₹ 37900 – ₹ 70850.
