
INTRODUCTION TO KARNATAKA TET:
The Karnataka TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) is held to determine candidates’ eligibility for the appointment of primary and upper primary teachers in government schools throughout the state. It should be noted that the Karnataka TET is only an eligibility exam, and candidates must pass it in order to appear in the state government’s Teacher Recruitment Exam. Candidates who wish to take the Karnataka TET must first register on the School Education Board of Karnataka’s official website.

The Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test or Karnataka TET or KARTET exam is conducted by the School Education Board of Karnataka.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Educational Qualification for Primary Teachers (Class 1 to 5)
The candidate must have passed class 12 or an equivalent exam with at least 50 % marks. (45% in the case of reserved category students.
The applicant must pass the Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) or Diploma in Elementary Education (D.Ed) with at least 45% or 50% marks, as the case may be.
Candidates are also eligible if they are currently pursuing their final year of D.Ed./B.Ed/B.El.Ed
Educational Qualification for Upper Primary Teachers (Class 6 to 8)
The minimum qualification required for Upper Primary Teachers is (B.A/B.Sc/ B.Com/ B.Tech/ BBA etc.,) with at least 45% – 50% of qualifying marks.
The candidates must have passed Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.Ed/ Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) to be eligible for the post of Upper Primary Teacher.
Candidates pursuing final-year D.EI.Ed/ B.Ed are also eligible to appear for Karnataka TET 2022.
Exam Pattern
KARTET exam pattern includes a description of no. of questions in each section with the marks allotted for the exam. The exam comprises two papers, namely paper 1 and paper 2. The time duration for each paper is 150 minutes. The candidate will have to answer only multiple-choice questions in the exam. In total, there will be 150 questions in each paper.
There is no negative marking for wrong answers or unattempted questions in the Karnataka TET 2022. One mark will be awarded for each correct answer. The KARTET exam pattern for paper 1 and paper 2 is included below.
