INTRODUCTION OF PSI (CIVIL)

Police Sub-Inspector, a police range introduced by the British in India and other parts of South Asia. The PSI (Civil) is in charge of every police station. According to Indian police rules, the PSI is the lowest ranking officer in any court and can be the first investigating officer. The Karnataka State Police Department is the state’s law enforcement agency. The department is headed by the Director General and the Inspector General of Police. Recruitment will be conducted for the appointment of Police Sub-Inspectors for various districts of Karnataka. PSI (Civil) posts are selected by direct appointment. Similarly, the Karnataka State Police Department conducts recruitment every year for the post of Sub Inspector of Civil Police. Appointment is transparent and your scores are the criteria of choice. POLICE SUB INSPECTOR (CIVIL) RECRUITMENT STAGES

There are two stages in the recruitment of these posts
  1. Physical examination (Physical Standard and endurance Test)
  2. Written examination
It is compulsory to pass all these stages to be selected as a Police Sub-Inspector (Civil). Candidates are eligible for the written test only if they pass the Physical examination.

ENDURANCE TEST:

  Candidates must pass all the following endurance tests to be eligible for the Physical Standard test, and it is mandatory to participate in all of the following endurance tests. Those who reject / fail to take these exams will be disqualified. After completing each endurance test, the candidate must sign and fill out the prescribed form. If missed, such candidate will be disqualified and will not be awarded any marks for endurance test. These are limited to merit alone. Candidates will be eligible for the next endurance test only if the 1600 meters race is completed within 7 minutes and women, servicemen and ex-servicemen can complete the 400 meters race within 2 minutes. Otherwise, such candidates will be disqualified at that stage. In the endurance test, there are only three chances for high jump or long jump and shotput. Only the best of the three chances will be taken into account.

WRITTEN EXAMINATION

The written examination of the Police Sub-Inspector (Civil) consists of two graduate level papers;

Paper 1:

There will be essay writing, Precise writing, translation questions. Do not exceed 600 words limit in essay writing. You will also be given a precis question along with the paper. Candidates will have to answer in the answer paper provided and no excessive papers will be given. The duration of this exam is one hour and thirty minutes, with 50 marks.  20 marks for the essay, 10 marks for precis writing and 20 marks for English to Kannada and English to Kannada translations. There are no minimum marks for this paper.

Paper 2:

The questionnaire is in the Kannada and English medium and is an objective model for 150 Marks, with a written test of multiple choices answers. These are given One hour and thirty minutes to answer. Candidate’s mental capacity is measured in this question paper. The question paper contains questions on current affairs, general knowledge and general study of Indian independence, Indian constitution, history, geography, science, art, literature, mental ability and policy education. For each wrong answer, 25% (0.375) of the correct answer of a similar question is subtracted. Candidates must attend both papers compulsory.

2. Education qualifications

The deadline for applying for this post must complete degree or equivalent degree at a recognized university recognized by UGC is as on 03/05/2021. (Ex-Servicemen Candidates if they have Qualification Certificate dated: 03/05/2021 such candidates will be considered.)

Qualifications and Experience for In-service Candidates:

Should have completed a minimum of 5 years of service in the Police Department (as of the last date of application, i.e., 03/05/2021) as an Assistant Police Sub-Inspector / Head Constable / Police Constable with a Degree or Equivalent Degree at a recognized University.

TRAINING, PERMANENT PERIOD AND SALARY RANGE

1. Training

Appointed Candidates must undergo twelve months of training in Karnataka Police Academy, Mysore or Police Training Center, Kalburgi or any other Training Center as determined by the Police Department and pass the prescribed exams at the end of the training.

2. Probationary period

Two years and six months including basic training and practical training.

3. Salary Range

₹ 37900 – ₹ 70850
